It was touch and go there for a couple days, but I am feeling much better. Thank you all for your emails and concern. For those following at home who don't know where I've been for a week, the illness I've had since October finally caught up to me and it was not pretty. It seems that despite all the booze over christmas, the gym and the multiple z-packs made any difference to the infection. I was very close to having pneumonia and I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever been as sick as I was last week in my life.
*6 days out of work
*5 trips to CVS
*4 boxes of tissues
*3 days of no sleep
*2 doctors visits
All I can say is thank you to the Australian Open for keeping me entertained at 4am. I really didn't care who I was watching, but Rafa was on Monday night at the height of my insomnia and seemed to soothe the restlessness. The shots of Carlos also helped. The final match was brutal - both the time and the outcome.
I happened to catch the SAG awards last night before Downton Abbey and the Good Wife. Did you watch? The red carpet was okay, nothing earth shattering except for Rose Byrne's amazing Elie Saab pantsuit. Between her outfit and her hair, she was perfection. Other observations:
*I'm still over Michelle Williams and her pixie hair.
*I'm over George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler. I hate her name. Reminds me of Kiebler elves and makes me crave cookies.
*Angie looked better than at the Globes, but that black halter dress she has worn before. However, it looks good on her and her hair and jewelry were pretty.
*Brad continues to look like a wax doll.
*How do you pronounce "Tattinger", the champagne? I've always heard it said "tat-en-ger". But last night they pronounced it "tat-en-jay". Whatever - just pass the bottle of Veuve.
*Emily Blunt looked great in that green Oscar de la Renta dress. I am dying over the grass green he has been using this season.
*If Julianna Margulies wore a colored dress, she would cease to exist. Someone please tell her stylist to incorporate some color to the poor childs wardrobe.
*I really want to like Julie Bowen because I love her on Modern Family, but I just can't. She's not funny. At all. And actually I take it back, I don't love her on Modern Family.
*Speaking of Modern Family, the creator - Steven Levitan - is adorable. They need to add him to the show.
*Melissa McCarthy - great dress. She needs to stick with that kind of draping.
*Did anyone catch the "in memoriam" portion of the program? Always the best part (to me), I was devastated to learn that the grandma from the Cosby Show died this year. I actually teared up as she was always my favorite person on the show.
I also made one bullet about The Good Wife last night:
*Josh Charles is a phenomenal dancer.
That's about it ladies and gentleman. I'm sick of television, you all are sick of hearing about Rafa, and I missed the Parisian fashion shows last week so I've got nothing left. I'll try to catch you up later in the week on the pretty from Paris. Just to wet your pallet - the Chanel show was held in an airport hanger. Rumor has it they had flight attendants serving drinks complete with costume.

rip: etta james
Believe it or not, I am actually well rounded musically. Don't let the selena gomez and lucy hale videos fool you - my ipod is full of stupid songs (like those) mixed with classical and classic songs. One person, who is always in heavy rotation, is the amazing Etta James. Between "Tell Mama" and "Stormy Weather", there is not a play list I have without them...they are essential Bunny music. Did you know you listen to Etta everyday? Well you do - she is the hook on Flo Rida's "good feeling". She was always so fashion forward with blond hair and cat eyes and will be missed.

tennis time
It's so cold outside that when I watch the Australian Open, I long for warm weather, sun...and Carlos Costa. The good news is Rafa has won both of his games so far. The bad news is it's going to be a tough year. The poor guy is never healthy - he's always hurt or his stomach hurts. But with the return of Rafa comes Carlos! And this picture posted on FB Wednesday shows my main man kicked back, relaxing (probably thinking of me) and wearing some kicks with cool laces. I like a man that accessorizes! Because the photo is kind of dark, thanks to microsoft paint, I highlighted CC to make sure you didn't miss him.
There is also a great article, written two weeks ago, on Carlos' day job, working as Rafa's agent at IMF. How cush of a job is that?? Little known fact that he also used to manage Roger Federer.

I took my eye off the prize

While scrolling through the blog the other night to find something I had mentioned, I realized that never bought the Karl scarf from Yarnz (I know, I've very devoted to Karl today, but it IS Thursday). However, when I went to net-a-porter, not only was the scarf sold out, BUT it had been on sale. Like 50% off on sale. Needless to say, I am devastated. And it's not even on ebay (if that's even possible).
BUT instead I found this great Queen Elizabeth scarf. While it might seem weird to walk around with her face around my neck, once all squished up, I think it would look adorable.
It's not Karl by any stretch, but it might cure my winter-time blues.

choupette's papa
In today's installment of Lagerfeld Thursday....
Before Christmas Karl put on a fashion show for the Metiers d'Art 2012 collection in Paris. The theme of the show is upscale Indian chic...and boy it is chic. I love it all and am desperately wanting one of the turban-esque headdresses the men wear. Yes, it might be a touch too much for the everyday person, but then again what everyday woman wears Chanel? If you take the pieces separately, they all are elegant perfection.
What's funny about this collection is Monsieur Karl has actually never been to India, but made the collection on what he thought India would be like - "fantasy is better than reality" he says. And like everything with fashion and Karl, he seems to have forgotten that most of the world is in a financial rut. His solution: "The crisis shouldn't be over-emphasised...People have always responded to difficulty by dressing up in jewels." I couldn't agree more and hope that a benefactor will come to my rescue with the jewels.
The show is around 17 minutes long and if you dont have time to watch it all, at least watch it for a couple of minutes to witness the stunning stage. It's exactly how I picture my dinner with Karl in his "visitors" house. I think this dinner might also be where fantasy is better than reality.

we are a part of the rhythm nation
Inspired by Lady Lala's new jumper, I have been singing Janet Jackson all day long. The funny thing is that Lala's dress really doesn't look 'rhythm nation' at all, but it was the first thing my mind went to. So in honor of the precious jumper, I give you this:
You are big, dirty liar if you say this isn't making you dance.

"awww" doesn't even begin to cover it
My bff Karl got a kitty ya'll! Her name is Choupette, she's adorable, and she belongs to Karl. I've never loved something so much and hated it all at the same time.
